happened to me during elementary, all teacher hate me and i'm not even a deliquent but rather a weird nerd. It was back in era where class ranking does matter and they don't hesitate to put me out from top 10 while my score is actually higher than 5th Moving up to JHS and get released from the shackle, i manage to get on top 3 every year and get accepted in prestigious HS. None of those shitty teacher believe it even when my cousins who still school there tell them. Fuckers even told my cousins that i was such a failure of a student and there's no way i would be accepted there.

Your first assignment is to read page 20-40 and submit a reaction paper on them maximum of 5 pages. Also, group yourselves together to make a presentation on chapter 3." Next class. Reports, presentations, and assignments ad infinitum. No meaningful discussions. Just a lot of book reading. Why'd we even bother paying for a professor?

I had a math teacher who believed math was just a hard grind and needed to be treated as that. I later learned math is quite beautiful. This stopped me from exploring tons of possible subjects I might have been interested in. I also had a history teacher who just made us remember dates and events, I later learned history is. fucking amazing to read and research if you actually learn the stories. Kinda sad to think how many kids go through life affected like that

I completely lost interest to chemistry back in high school because of a teacher that is so determined to waste time making us remember the periodic table from top to bottom in a very boring way. It's all he ever did in class, memory test 8am in the morning with kids that don't even know what coffee is yet.

In 8th and 9th grade, my love for biology was destroyed by the fucking biggest asshole teacher ever. Then, in 10th grade, I got the most awesome biology teacher ever. A year later, I took Biology as a-level courss (Leistungskurs), got 14/15 in the final exam (Abitur) and am now studying biology.

All we did was the most simple, boring programs, and OOP indoctrination by a sadistic teacher who made me sit right under the wall where her screen was projected on and screamed at me when I couldn't look up anymore because my neck hurt. Learned procedural C and python in Uni and loved it immediately

Have had both happen to me. Had a really awesome professor in university, who was totally into Math, like really into it, who really had fun just calculating stuff and coming up with formulas and mathematically proving them. And he really wanted to teach this stuff and he actually taught me a lot of the math stuff i never understood before, not for a lack of trying, i never hated math i just really never understood a lot of it. But that guy really did it. On the other hand during professional school i had a guy who tried to explain the simplest stuff and who just failed completely at all of it. Like i'm sure he KNEW all that stuff. If i had hired him to do that stuff for me i'm sure he would have done a good job but as for him TEACHING that stuff he skipped tons of steps and explained everything strictly in the most complex and professional terms that we didn't know yet because he was supposed to teach us.

All my teachers. All of them. Except two: my elementary school's who believed in me and at age 10 I was technically ready for high school, and one of my university professors, Carlo Sbordone, calculus, a true superstar who taught us perfectly in less than one hour what other classes took two and still didn't understand. All the others were dumb, idiotic, ignorant, arrogant jerks who I hope are all dead by now, even if I know some aren't. Honor mention: music teacher, telling a bunch of kids how voice is influenced not only by vocal chords but also by bone sinuses in the skull, that's why [famous comedian] looks like the targets of his impressions, because he changes his sinuses on the fly. I was 11 (eleven! freedom!) and I already knew you were retarded and unworthy to live, let alone teach.

seriously, this sounds like someone is trying to make a different person responsible for their own failure. if it takes so little to get uninterested, maybe you were never interested in the first place. at a certain age you should be able to learn on your own without other peoples guidance.

Meaning: you like something and the teacher ruins it? My big sister insists I didn't like history class because I had bad teachers. I just didn't like History for longer than 5 minutes. I didn't like anything I had to memorize much of, actually. People look at me like I'm crazy, but I still say math was perfect for me because I was so lazy: as long as I understood the concept, I didn't bother practice much because I could just solve the stuff. It was all the same, just different numbers. :P
